This employee guide explains how to use the normal Employee Time Clock page. Button and card availability depends on the features enabled by the employer.
Before you begin: Sign in with your own WordPress account. Your employee status must be Active. Never record time through another employee's account.
Open the clock
- Open the Employee Time Clock URL provided by your employer.
- If prompted, sign in with your individual username and password.
- Confirm your name and current status are correct before selecting an action.
If the page says you do not have access, ask an Administrator to check your employee access and employment status.
Clock in
- Find Ready to Work > Start a new shift.
- If the Project field appears, select the work assignment. If the employer requires projects, Clock In remains unavailable until an active project is selected.
- Enter a short optional note when it will help a manager understand the work performed.
- If the browser asks for location access, choose Allow and wait for the location check. Do not leave or reload the page during the request.
- Select Clock in once.
- Wait for the Current Shift view to appear.
Expected result: The page displays an active shift and the available next actions. Do not click Clock In repeatedly if the page is slow; reload and check the Current Shift first.
Record a break
- While clocked in and not on lunch, select Start break.
- Confirm the page shows that a break is active.
- When you return, select End break.
- Confirm the Current Shift returns to working status.
Record lunch
- While clocked in and not on a break, select Start lunch.
- If the employer allows a paid-time choice, select the correct option according to company policy.
- Confirm the page shows that lunch is active.
- When lunch ends, select End lunch.
A break and lunch cannot run at the same time. End the current time-away event before starting another. If a button is missing, the feature may be disabled or another event may already be active.
Clock out
- End any active break or lunch.
- Review the optional note and current project if shown.
- If location is requested at clock-out, allow the browser to complete the request.
- Select Clock out once.
- Wait for the Ready to Work view to return.
- Confirm the completed shift appears under Your Entries with the correct date, start, end, break, lunch, and hours.
Add a completed shift manually
Use this form only when company policy allows manual entries and no active shift exists for the same work.
- Find Completed Shift > Add time manually.
- Select the Work date.
- Enter the shift Start and End times.
- Enter total Break minutes. Enter the combined number of break minutes, not break start and end times.
- Enter total Lunch minutes. Keep lunch separate from break minutes.
- Select a Project if shown.
- Enter an optional note explaining the work or why the shift is being added manually.
- Select Add entry.
- Confirm the new row in Your Entries.
Example: For 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with two 10-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch, enter Break Minutes = 20 and Lunch Minutes = 30. Do not enter 50 in both fields.
Overnight shifts
If End is earlier than Start, the system treats End as occurring on the following day. For example, Start 10:00 PM and End 6:00 AM produces an overnight shift. A completed shift cannot exceed 24 hours, and total break plus lunch minutes must be shorter than the gross shift.
Request a correction
- Find the Correction Request card.
- Select the completed entry by its work date and recorded times.
- Wait for the existing Clock In, Clock Out, Break Minutes, and Lunch Minutes to populate.
- Change only the values that are incorrect.
- Enter a clear reason, such as “Forgot to end lunch; actual lunch was 30 minutes.”
- Submit the request.
- Review the request status later. The entry does not change until an authorized manager approves it.
Submit a timesheet
If timesheet certification is enabled, review every entry in the pay period before submitting. Include a note if company procedure requires one. A zero-hour period may still require submission. After submission, a supervisor or payroll manager can approve or reject it.
Request time off
If Time Off is enabled, choose the leave type, dates, and hours per workday, add an optional note, and submit. Pending requests can be cancelled from the employee page. Approved time off is not the same as a worked time entry.
Common employee problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Clock In is blocked | Check for an active shift, required published schedule, early-clock window, required project, location permission, and Active employment status. |
| Break or lunch button is missing | Confirm you are clocked in, no other time-away event is active, and the employer enabled that feature. |
| Clock Out is blocked | End an active break or lunch first. Complete any required location check. |
| Manual entry is rejected | Check the date and times, ensure break plus lunch is shorter than the shift, and confirm no conflicting entry exists. |
| Correction fields are blank | Select a completed entry and wait for its saved values to load. Active or deleted entries cannot be selected. |
| Hours look wrong | Review the gross start/end duration and the separate break and lunch totals. Ask a manager to review automatic lunch or paid-time policy. |
